Words never spoken by PM Harper:
If it was not so sad it would be funny. Helena Guergis wants to reach out to her former party and have a sit-down, face-to-face meeting with the PM. Whoda thought that the RCMP would clear Helena? Surely not Harper and his crack squad of "shoot first, ask questions later" staffers.
Good luck Mz. Guergis, cause you'll need it. By taking you back into the fold the PM signals to the public, and his party, that he was wrong and that he took bad advice. Most importantly, it shows weakness and bad judgment. How can the Pope of Canadian Republicanism be fallible? Has the RCMP unwittingly found a chink in the chain of this master tactician? Maybe...
I always thought that Harper's minions would be the ones to embarrass him and screw up his plans to become Canada's natural governing man. But I never thought he'd pave the way for them.

These guys had a short term political problem.
A minister who did not bring joy to every file she touched married to a former MP who was never a favourite and was becoming less popular within PMO (losing a safe seat in Alberta will do that).
With typical PMO grace, they seized the opportunity presented by a bankrupt private eye with suspect allegations. And then they over reacted.
It's a good thing that Peter Donolo gave the dick the attention he deserved. That's adult supervision at work.
Gawd, there's something very Shakespeare Tragedy or comedy about this; I haven't quite decided which one yet, I'll have to get back to you on that.
Honestly, after the way Ol' Steve publicly humiliated Guergis, I have to ask why on earth would she go crawling back to him for her place in con caucus again? I wouldn't give him the satisfaction or the time of day.
More than likely, Steve won't take her back, because as you pointed out, that would mean for him to admit he actually made a mistake. He's far too arrogant for that.
But, if I were her, I would continue to sit as an independent. Continue to watch and listen.
I wouldn't be surprised if perhaps the Liberals started courting her now that she & her hubby have been cleared of all wrong doing.
